A man with a foreign accent claiming to be from Visa. When I asked whom he wished to speak to, he became silent. I hung up.

Annoyed

I received the same call when i asked what it was regarding he said he wanted to f**** me. I asked for the number so i could arrange the appointment. He was taken back but then told me he would f*** then kill me. He proceeded to get grosser then hung up. Why do we have to put up with this [***]?

I got a call from this number telling me they were enquiring about a recent use of my credit card, and would I give them the three numbers on the back of my card.   I have a 'personal alarm' which I turned on and the person hung up.   It was a man with a very heavy Indian or Pakistani accent.

So here are the important details that everyone should know......I received the same call.  I went thru the guy with the heavy accent and then was passed to the "Senior Financial Advisor".   I refused to give him my information and he could not understand why since he worked with Royal Bank VISA and had my information in front on him and just wanted to confirm my identity.  I got the same offer of significantly reduced interest rates and elimination of annual fee.  I asked for a number where I could reach him back.  He provided me the royal bank Customer Service number on the back of the card.  I told him to put my number on his DNC list and that if he didn't hear back from me after my call to Royal Bank to confirm the offer, then the lead was dead.  Call to Royal Bank:  <To All Card Holders>.  As expected, the CSR at Royal confirmed that the only offer that would be given would be through the mail directly to the cardholder.  They would NEVER call with such an offer.  What happens is that this is likely a Debt Consolidator and after getting your card number, would charge a few hundred $$ on your card and then tell you that they were going to negotiate with a few companies ON YOUR BEHALF to reduce your interest rate.  Final comment from CSR, DO NOT DO IT.  This company is likely getting your information thru credit checks with TRANS Canada Credit or Equifax.
